Picnic With A Purpose

Together with the fabulous ladies at TheMotherhood.com and Hebrew National, bloggers came from New Jersey, Delaware, and all over eastern Pennsylvania for Philly’s Picnic With A Purpose this past weekend.  There were games, face painting, plenty of hot dogs to nosh on (Hebrew National, of course) and all for a good cause.

Each organizer gets to choose a charity of her choice to sponsor, and we found a local organization called Home of the Sparrow that provides temporary housing for homeless women and helps them find jobs and permanent housing and get back on their feet.  There were two tables full of generous donations, and then we planted flowers to beautify their front porch.  Later in the week, we drove out to deliver them and meet the staff at Home of the Sparrow.

We had gorgeous weather; it couldn’t have been more perfect.  There wasn’t a fly or a bee in sight.  Seriously, a picnic without FLIES.  I didn’t know such a thing could happen.  (Note to self: host all future picnics in May.)

Hebrew National sent t-shirts for all the kids.  Some of the adults got in on the fun too!

Before we left, we tried to gather all the bloggers together for a photo.  Unfortunately not quite everyone had a chance to jump in the picture.
