Delaware Beach Bloggin’

Last weekend, Mel Tuttle, a charter member of PSMM and author of the blog, Mel’s Box of Chocolates, as well as owner of the site dedicated to the Delaware Beaches, Delaware Beach Families, hosted an overnight blogger getaway at Rehoboth Beach.

She must have ordered the weather because it was a perfect balmy spring day.

It wasn’t just the weather she ordered, though. She thought of everything – right down to the cupcakes waiting for us on our beds when we arrived (generously donated by Cake Break).

Mel arranged for us to stay at the exquisite Bellmoor Inn where some of the ladies enjoyed spa services before meeting up for a cocktail hour sponsored by Fenwick Winery and Southern Delaware Tourism.

Afterward, we walked over to Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats for dinner and a taste of their renowned beers. Aprihop, one of their most popular spring beers, seemed to be a fave among the girls.

Our fun-filled night didn’t end there, however. Next we drove to the Movies at Midway where we were treated to a private screening of Eat, Pray, Love along with a dessert tray provided by The Point Coffeehouse and wine pairings provided by Atlantic Liquors.

YUMMO!

Needless to say, we did not go hungry!

After that, it was back to the luxurious Bellmoor for a few winks before it was time to rise and shine. Another glorious day awaited us, although it wasn’t as warm as it was the day before. I got up early and went down to the beach. I wasn’t about to miss out on that photo op!

The boardwalk was fairly deserted, except for the few dedicated runners who passed by, making me wish that I’d thought to bring my running gear. Maybe next time…

Back at The Bellmoor, everyone was enjoying a delightful breakfast in the cheery sunroom. This was not your typical stale complimentary hotel breakfast. There was a made-to-order omelet station, bacon and sausage, yogurt and granola, fresh fruit, and an array of pastries that made my mouth water just looking at them — all complimentary with an overnight stay.

After we were sufficiently stuffed, Morgan graciously gave us a tour of the exclusive 4th floor (want a special weekend away? Ask to stay in the Carolina Room. This is now officially on my 40 by 40 list!) and their guest house.

Then we did what all ladies do when they are away . . . we went SHOPPING!

Some opted to head straight to the Tanger Outlets while others of us wandered to downtown Rehoboth to take advantage of the wide variety of more unique shops available there. We made sure to stop into Browseabout and Snyder’s Candy, both contributors to our fun swag bags.

Mel, our lovely hostess

Some of the girls grabbed lunch at Nicola’s before joining the rest of the group at the outlets while others of us headed home and back to reality.

Big thanks to Mel for hosting this fabulous event and to all of the sponsors listed above as well as Aubrey and Scott at @VisitSoutDel for making this weekend possible.

Notes: All photos were taken by me. The rest are on my Delaware Beach Bloggin’ Flickr set. Participating bloggers received a complimentary night at the Bellmoor as well as discount coupons and gift bags from the sponsors.

  • It was a fabulous time, one that will not be forgotten anytime soon. My thanks to Mel for hosting. It was great to get to know everyone better and have a little time away from home for rest and relaxation.

  • Aubrey says:

Happy to have you all in town! We’re so glad that you enjoyed your stay (and that the weather cooperated!). And remember: don’t be a stranger; we hope to see you in our neck of the woods again soon 🙂

I so needed this girl’s weekend. Before I even arrived, I was impressed with the hospitality of our Delaware businesses welcoming us to there beaches via Twitter. My face is so soft thanks to the best facial ever, oh la la pumpkin exfoliant. I had so much fun getting to know my blogger girl friends in real life. Thank you to all the wonderful sponsors! Mel you rocked this event!

  • Shannon says:

SUCH AN AMAZING TRIP. Every detail was thought of and I felt so welcomed every step of the way. It was a fantastic introduction to this beach town for me!

  • Erica says:

I’ve been visiting Delawere beaches for a
Long time, but save for the one time I slept in my car (another story for another time!) I’ve never spent the night there.

Wow, was I missing out! The Belmoor was perfect, and what’s even better is that it’s only like a 2-hour drive from Philly! Perfect for
    A weekend getaway!

Great recap, and it was a great weekend. We need to
    Do “Mom Camp” again!!

  • I am so happy to hear that everybody had such a great time.

I must give a huge shoutout to Aubrey from visitsoutherndelaware.com and @VisitSouthDel on Twitter for helping to make the event all that it was. Without her help it would never have been so awesome or honestly, probably never would have happened. If you are planning a trip to the Delaware Beaches definitely check out their website to help you plan the best vacation ever!!

I had a blast showing off my Delaware Beaches and can’t wait till our next Beach Bloggin Event! PSMM girls rock!!
