Yesterday, Exton Square Mall treated families to a midweek celebration in honor of the opening of their new play area. And, PSMM members, with little ones in tow, were there to be a part of it and enjoy refreshments, prizes, balloon artists and face painting, music from Mummers, and special presentations from The Franklin Institute and The Philadelphia Zoo.

The area was hopping as parents and children explored the imaginative garden playground with a colorful butterfly bridge, flower slide, and a variety of woodland animal friends to climb on and crawl under. The large enclosure with comfortable benches along the inside perimeter and carpeted flooring make it a great place for free entertainment for little ones (under 42″ tall) on a rainy day or a break during rushed Christmas shopping. And, centered between The Children’s Place and the brand new Learning Express store makes it an ideal location for parents and kids.

Recognizing that a great way to bring in shoppers and serve the community is through providing activities for kids, Exton Square Mall also made sure families there for the grand opening learned about their Kids’ Klub program for preschool aged children and their families. This free interactive program on the second Tuesday of every month from 10:30-11:30 in the area in front of JCPenny engages kids cognitively and creatively through storytelling, songs, crafts, coloring, and educational games. And, parents can benefit there too through exclusive discounts at participating mall retailers.

As area moms prepare for the rush of Christmas shopping, get yourself some decaf coffee and treat yourself to some downtime at the new play area as you watch your little one burn some energy and you imagine a nice quiet afternoon while she naps afterwards.

On behalf of the PSMMs, thanks to Exton Square Mall and Simon Public Relations for inviting us to a precelebration event to get the first look at the new play area and be front row witnesses to the ribbon cutting!
